Matt Ferrara is the author of Young Drunks in Love (2001) and Five Seeds Enclosed in a Capsule (2002). In 2004, he earned an M.F.A. in Poetry from New England College. He has published essays, short stories, poems, illustrations and photographs, most recently in The Henniker Review and Caesura magazine. After living in Korea for three years, he has returned to his home city of Boston, Massachusetts.

On two separate occasions, in the past few weeks, I’ve heard people who I judged to be both sane and in possession of above-average intellects espouse the rather confounding belief that history will absolve George W. Bush. That, in fact, history will prove him right, that the reason his leadership seems so flawed is that we’re just not far-sighted enough to see his plan unfold in its grand splendor.
