Literary Insanity in a Mundane World.

The Short-

American NonFiction is a group of Americans who show our points of view through a culture review, “Background Noise”, an off-the-cuff stream-of-consciousness, “Incorrect Grammar” and Nickel Book fiction, “Channel”. We also have a writer’s workshop in, “Audience Participation”, a thriving Fiction section and more to come.

The Long-

About Revised

It is important to note, American NonFiction is a Binary Zine. In the modern world we understand the importance of words. The two elements of Binary and Zine are essential to truth of an About American NonFiction.

Zines have always been an important part of American culture. The American Revolution was lit from Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense”. The rise of the Punk culture saw the value of small press as the small press has always been part of the resistance. The middle ground between the guy in the street and the hard cover book or fully published magazines. Zines are the glue to uphold a community and the place to find the voice of truth or American NonFiction as we like to call it.

Binary is the language of computers and to this end, our words, songs, and all forms of expression can be placed on to a computer, converted to a language of on and off signals, and then reconverted for human interaction. The world runs on Binary and we see no change in the future. We are at the footsteps of Tomorrow.

For years, we have had to suffered at the hands of falsehoods and got sick of intelligent minded individuals without a source to give them the cannon fodder to throw back at the mob of politics newbs. The newbs come from both sides of the isle and their regurgitated bumper sticker mottos or Susan Sarandon bullet points seek to propel greed biased agendas. We see this as the subversion of the American Dream. The lies of America are abundant and the freedoms are dwindling.

In the present we face many hard truths. We have never learned to live in a economic system biased in reality. The entirety of our lives have been a dream. Our way of life is not only hurtful to the planet but is not sustainable. If our children are to make it in the world, we need to learn how to live on this planet. By the year 2050, the U.N. Predicts half the worlds population will live in Mega cities. There is a long road ahead and in many ways, we are a country without a father figure to teach us the way. These are the American NonFictions, we have to face.

There are many ways we could face the future. We could run around as if our heads had been chopped off and the sky was falling, or we could look at the world with a careful level headed approach. We opt for the latter and plan to have fun along the way. We have guides to help you become more active and learn. We have suggestions for your multi media world and we know a thing or two about a thing or two. We will always be here to keep you entertained and informed.

The internet has allowed the world to have a voice and we seek to keep that voice free. Now that is what American NonFiction is about.

About Unabridged

What is American Nonfiction? To find the answer, there are a number of questions to consider. “What is an American?” and “what is NonFiction?” In our search for the answer to the twin questions, we shall find the answers to the trinity. In many ways, American Nonfiction is a quest to find the many answers and explore each possible outcome. As my life has been a search for truth.

I moved to Boston in the summer of 04, in time for the big Bush/Kerry show. In 2000, I had “thrown away” my vote on Nader and I was ready to do it for a second time. But I got wrapped up in the Kerry hoopla. I believed America could be great again and I swallowed more than one cup full of the punch. At the time, I wanted to be a publisher. Well, I wanted to be a writer who got to print the ideas I wanted to print. If I had to be a publisher to do that, an unfettered voice was worth the price. I studied the election and came up with the idea for American NonFiction. At the time, I wanted to create a political zine and the name American NonFiction burned into my skull. The future was a bright light, and we all went to Copley Square to witness Kerry placed into office by the will of the people.

Then came the morning after. The ticker tape had fallen and the dream was ruined. America was bought, paid, and owned by puppet stings. Hunter died and all my heroes had passed. Friends talked of leaving the US and a handful of them did. No one was left to fight the machine. I checked out of life, punched the clock, and stuck a fork in myself.  “American NonFiction” stayed an idea and I went back to NH. Where the small seacoast village of my birth had changed from its quaint main street, lined with small shops owned by townies, to the face of the shop-Apocalypse, branded by corporate labels. I found a bar and got drunk for a number of years.

Flash forward to present day, we are in the middle of the new depression. The chains of oppression have tightened. Our society has our culture full tilt on a crash course with disaster. We are captives hogtied in the trunk of a light-blue ‘66 Thunderbird pointed at the Grand Cannon. I took the advice of the good Doctor and the going had gotten strange. I registered AmericanNonFiction and went semi pro.

A year later, we are here to find the many answers to our trinity questions,  What is American NonFiction, Who are Americans, and What is NonFiction?. There are text book answers, the Websters unabridged dictionary says Americans are a noun, who are a native of America. Intended for the Native Americans, the term has changed “to the descendants of Europeans born in America, and especially to the citizens of the United States”. Reeks of the white man’s gentrification, don’t it?

Websters said, nonfiction is prose that are not fictional. By the two definitions, American Nonfiction would be prose, that is not fiction, from the Americas, especially from the citizens of the United States. It’s a definition, not complete, but it’s a good place to start.
