“Get Up, Get Out, Get Gone” Paul Chesne

Last week, Paul Chesne released “Get Up, Get out, Get Gone”, his newest EP. Pick up the Venice Beach artist’s latest EP for “Pay as You Can” from his profile at Bandcamp.

There are many lovers of music who shun country as a genre. Yet every now and then there comes a few country artist who jump the stigma of the genre. Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, and Willie Nelson are among the more famous names. Yet, even here in Hollywood, there are more than a few artist who bring the twang with acceptable rock appeal.

Paul Chesne and his crazy band of Mother Truckers are a group of those artists. With “Get Up, Get Out, Get Gone”, now available for download, the wacky crew of dedicated musicians prove Cowboy Boots, 10 gallon hats, and riding horse back is still hep on the needle strewn beaches of Venice.

The 5 track EP runs the gambit of boot stomping rhythms and empty bottle ballads.

“Get Up, Get Out, Get Gone” the title track kicks off the album with lively tune about the end result of life with fast woman. A song that speaks to the shattered aftermath of empty bottles, baggies, and desire.

“Loveable Loser” comes next and describes the times when we all feel like a ner-do-well. The track is slow and full of sorrow. A song of self inspection, when life has slung the slings and bowed the arrows.

“Sour Grapes” is a ballad of sorrow, but with a silver lining. “Life gives me sour grapes and I’ll make wine.” A song for even a dead beat to spin his dance partner on the floor for a close one.

“Geographically Undesirable” is the last slow tune and your last chance to spin your partner to a sweet slow tune. This track is blues the Paul Chesne way.

“Blond Hair, Big Tits, Red Mercedes” is the money shot. The best track on the album is a lively tune of fast woman and the shallowness of their beauty.

All in All, “Get Up, Get Out, Get Gone” is a trademark EP from the ten gallon hat of our favorite Venice Beach Country Star. The music will set your feet to tapping, the lyrics will leave tear drops in the head of your beer, and the “Pay as you Can” will leave your wallet happy.

Go to Paul Chesne’s Bandcamp site. Toss the boys a fiver for their hard work and add a great country album to your playlist.
