Background Noise is a culture review.
There is a world of utter mundane madness outside of our bedrooms and cyber-layers. It is paramount for our future and rebellion that we gain a firm understanding of the world around us. In many ways, the world is a giant chess board and we need to understand how the oddly shaped pieces move about the game board of life. In Background Noise, we apply an archeologist’s tool set to our society and seek uncover the truths and errors in our collective present and history.
Here at American NonFiction, we know all the fun facts that the MAN won’t tell you about. On Background Noise, we let you in all of our knowledge. Take Helen Keller’s rabid socialist zeal. Sure, the MAN wants you to think she was a great woman who lived through her elements; blind, def, and supposedly dumb, but they don’t want you to know she was a staunch supporter of the Pinko Party. In her day, Ms. Keller would travel to country side and gave speeches from her socialist dialogue. Yet the history pages seems to forget her life past the point of teenage angst. And Ms. Keller is not alone, seems there are more than a few V.I.P. Americas who chose paths you might not have heard about.
With NonFiction-esk articles like “Americans You Should Know” and “American NonFictions“, we let you know the truth behind history and the colorful characters who are truly American. We highlight the odd as they will never get into a gentrified history book, despite how they are keystones of our democracy. At American NonFiction, we don’t see the American landscape as a place only big enough for apple pie and plastic smiles. We see a country as colorful as the many shades of skin tones. We see a giant social experiment that is currently tainted by greed and world dominance.
And we know of a better, less Disney America, where the founding fathers were an uppity pack of thieves and smugglers. They penned God given equality onto paper, but who were they? They were men who loved wine, woman, song, and held a bottomless hunger for freedom, in the Quaker sense of the term. Wholesome like a box of oatmeal with a dash of brown sugar reality. They smoked cannabis, grew hemp, and lived the American Dream, a dream that is all but forgotten in recent times. A dream we hope to uncover with article like “Sam’s Your Uncle“, “The Repatriation Report“, and “Indy U.S.A.“.
The American Dream has been beaten up, dredged through the mud, and left for dead. No one believes in the American Dream, save for a small group of individuals who infest our current reality and motivate our culture with their own blood, sweat, and tears. American is a land of D.I.Y., Do It Yourself, values caught up in a world of mass consumption. With Articles like “Adventures in D.I.Y.”, “Scream Biary“, and “Wide Web of Woman“, we uncover the many ways you can stand against the tidal wave of conglomerates and hold your own.
Yet, no American culture review is complete without a look at our society’s media. There is no better social common denominator than a country’s media machine. Movies, Television, and Books define our very way of life. With Articles like ” Censored Critic“, “Hep Bookshelf D.I.Y.“, “New Age Nanny“, and “Saved Admissions” we explore and review the media of our culture to highlight the right and wrong of the medium.
And music, sweet music. The Beetles proved how a generation can be defined by the music it plays. Currently the music scene is in a comma. On the national scene, the only thing worth listening too are the Kings of Leon and Dead Weather. Yet your radio dial is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Anything with a bit of sound is over played in a matter of weeks and we are left to utter boredom. With articles like “They ___ Live“, “Ear Wax Inspection“, and “Or Have Corners” we seek out new music on the scene and let you know about bands that the American Music Industry often over looks.
As you can see, Background Noise is a culture review. We, here at American NonFiction stand against the MAN to uncover the path to a bright American future. As, quote unquote, leaders of the free world we, as the citizens of our great nation, need to learn from our history to advert the pitfalls of the past. Together with a culmnivation of information and alternative point of view, it is our hope we can dig ourselves out of this mess. But one section of enlightment does not make the entirety of American NonFiction. Next up, Incorrect Grammar.
