Fox’s Underage Tea Party

“The sons of liberty dressed like Mohawks for the Boston Tea Party,” she said. “That’s why I’m wearing this.” Sara Dotson, age 17.

Clad in moccasins and feather headdress, Ms. Dotson threw Styrofoam tea creates into the mighty ocean in protest to the current taxes, of which she doesn’t have to pay.

My fellow Americans,

We live in the product. The concentration of the Fox effect. The propagation of the great Pronoun War, where the enemies don’t have faces, bodies, or names. Two television stations, so vile, they conjure up the public to forbid it’s chosen, elected by the people, officials in light of slanted, sided, and stacked logic.

Fox's Tea Party

Fox's Tea Party

When the founding fathers, a pack of smugglers and freedom fighters, stormed Boston harbor to protest the Stamp Act, they did so without the choice of a voice. They had no vote and the tyrannical English law sought to make the new colonies dependent upon Britain. The battle cry became “No Taxation Without Representation!” to decry the injustice of their situation.

Ms. Dotson’s stylish fashion protest might appear fitting in light of her young age, which bars her from the voting booth. But she probably gets back all the taxes taken from her paycheck from the “Matthew McConaughey” Ice cream shop, where I get older but the workers stay about the same age. Her plea for rebellion falls upon the public’s deaf ears. We might be a tad sympathetic to the Oldson Twins, pre legalization, who paid higher taxes than a middle class salary with no vote to protest. The Full House stars can bitch, while Ms Dotson’s tea soaked water is spilled milk on the political debate.

Today, we have taxation with representation. But with the ball securely out of their court, the Fox fascist rise up with their pronoun war. “We Surround You” or their general “Us against Them” reporting tactic. As the giants of industry stand up and proclaim themselves mortal gods, the citizens are urged by Fox, the for profit god of communication, to rise up against our government, which is composed of the people.

I ask you, what is the end game? The current administration finds itself in the worst economic times and we are all not happy about it. The devaluation of the dollar is a time tested nail into the economic pine box and every party is to blame. Enron, Hiliburton, Black Water, these names have gained household notoriety for good reason. Yet, we continue to support corporations with the printing of money. We have seen devaluation ruin Japan, U.S.S.R, and in the words of Bin Laden’s quest to bankrupt the U.S.

In life, our option is to pick a side and fight for it. Some people punch a red, blue, or green ticket. Your old Uncle Sam punches a strait Red, White, and Blue ticket. I have chosen American’s side and for her I will fight with every last breath. Above ideology and spin is a land of hard working, decent folks who are descendant from rebels. I urge you to relish in American ideals and seek what is best for her, unquestioned if the plan denotes any -ism.

We have our heads too filled with the myths and fear of ideas. From the preconceived tyranny of Socialism, Fascism, or Capitalism. Do we even have a clue? In the wake of last week’s protests, both sides have no answers. Objection remains the motivator. Objection that denies the birth of ideas,  shape of imagination, and progress of evolution.

Collectively, we know the liars and call them out on the world stage. Bush claimed “We do not torture” and, this week, Obama released the memos, which depict the ways we did torture. 8 years of lies, we knew and let happen. 8 years of right wing slant, which I hate to call right wing slant. They dominated the house but it was the greed mongers among their numbers that distorted the aim.

Today like all earthquakes, we feel the aftershock of the last 8 years. The truth has been set free and the crimes are absolved. Could it have turned out any better? With Bill Clinton and George Sr. walking hand in hand, Hillary would have been hard pressed to see a conviction and McCain may have let sleeping dogs lie. I fear, we have seen the best we can hope for in our conviction of “being right”.

We were right, they had a “Pronoun War” and openly propagated lies. We have called them on their lies and we have participated in their war. We stand proud with the badge of Rightness to shine upon our chest. Yet in the wake of our sensibility, we see Fox up to old tricks. Tea parties and binary shouts are our past and present. The question left to ask is “How can we change the future?”

Until next time, buy an orange for a house-less person.
Uncle Sam
