“um, back at ya?,,, and get back to work… I need more to read. : D” Once Upon A Rock’s comment on American NonFiction’s myspace page.
Comments like these make this job all worth while. Independent publishing is often a fickle lover and one who leaves you with a empty bed and deep desire. Yet, there are times when you get words like the comments above that uplift your spirits and gives you a swift kick in the pants. Thank you “Once Upon A Rock” we needed it.
As it is close to the end of the year and we are already handing out thanks, lets run down the list.
First, all the readers. You guys are awesome. I know American NonFiction has been hard to read at times and only two comments have pointed out the lack of grammar. Seems the majority of our readers care more for the content than the structure, which is how it should be. We are a society too marred by our structures, adding a little faulty to our towers is not such a bad thing. Most of our readers see this, we are not giving ourselves a pass here but pointing out how great you guys are. Thank you for all the love and respect you show us and continue to show us. You guys are the best period.
To our writers, You guys kick ass. The majority of the post on American NonFiction are written by Wesley, but the cream of the crop is in the contributions. They always stand out as fan favorites. Kelly’s music coverage is top notch and she has taught us all how music should be covered with her “They _____ Live” submissions. Rachel we all love “loose lips” and not a week has gone by without someone asking for more posts by you. Charles brings in the most hits with his coverage of “Indy U.S.A” and continues to keep us informed about the ugly scams in the world. Stephen has always lent us his own brand of sardonic wit with anti-movie coverage in “Saved Admission” and continues to rock our socks off with “The Happy Casualties”.
Ian, could I have asked for a better writer to come aboard? I think, we were mind melded in a former life and I swear all the ideas are still ideas in my head that will play out, I promise you that buddy! The cook, well what can I say it has been a rocky year, but 09 is right around the corner and everyone asks me when the next “Vernacular Gastronomy” will post. We should get together soon. And last but not least of the writers is my one of my best friends, Matt. You have been there since the inception, when all my words were just talk. The night we met, I knew we were going to be long time friends and I am glad to see, once again, I am right. You give us credibility beyond our years and write my favorite column on the site “The Repatriation Report”.
To our Editors, Holly, what can I say, second to Matt you are the oldest member of the American NonFiction staff. You were the first to lend your hand and are always there when we need you. We are all glad to have you aboard. Jenny, your insight into words is priceless but I hope to place a price tag on it someday. Let’s hope it has 6 figures. And Jennifer, how do we like you, let us count the ways. There is so much you have taught me about living in the world by my words. You have shown me by example, time and time again, how even I fall short of greatness. Thank you.
To the bands, how can we ever thank you enough? The music scene sucks for a working band, but you guys continue to fill the world with music. Is there anything better than that? At American NonFiction we don’t think so. “Automatic Music Explosion,” who have been nothing but kind to our budding news source. “The Vacation” who rock our sock covered cocks, “Tommy Peacock and the Gas” a trio of rock who well rock, and “Paul Chesne and the Crazy Mother Fuckers” who could ask for better guys to see on stage or to be at the after party with. All these bands have welcomed us into their city with open arms and we have a ton of respect for all those things you do. Keep up the good work and we will keep reporting on it.
For all the people I missed, we love you too!
We have had a wild ride in “08. Every year we get better, every day we work hard. American NonFiction might as well be written in stone because we are here to stay. I will write homeless, if i have too. American NonFiction is the only thing I have to give to the world and it will always be the truth as we see it, free from the corporate dollar and for the people.
Heartfelt Departing Sentiments,
Welsey A. Bridle and Staff
P.S. To you know who, I hope I can live up to the image you have of me.
