I outright stole a copy of ” The Unfinished Nation: A Concise History of the American People “, by Alan Brinkley, from my Bother’s stack of college history books. I still have not read the volume but I like the name. The Unfinished Nation is a great title for the red, white, and blue. From Paine’s idealism to Madison’s subversion, America is not yet the dream of our forefathers and it never was. Jefferson decried the end of a dream and his sentiment has been restated throughout the generations.
There is something wrong with America and there has always been something wrong with America. As the title of Mr. Brinkley’s book suggests, we never achieved Nirvana. We come from a blood line who struggled under the tyranny of organizations and we let organizations take over our lives. The Church of England and the Government of England were in cahoots to rob the early Americans and, now Corporate America and the American Government are in cahoots to rob us. Things have not changed, the board has been updated and renovated with brand laden appeal but the goal is still the same.
Worse than the sins of drink and dice, come from the profit off the backs of meek labor. May he without sin sign the first pay check. A work force clothed in identical uniforms and marked with the company logo looks awful close to communism from my vantage point. Armies of a menial skilled work force infest the country side. Powers that be learn from the errors of fascist past and add a secret blend to tyranny. Complex mazes of paperwork and backdoor brotherhoods, 5 heads of Media and a million plastic smiles.
We live in the center of a swirling pyramid scheme, a country with fuzzy laws on Egyptian economies. Logic center around the ignorance and sedation of the masses. While the will and well being fall on def morals. We are kept close by a number game. Too many rouge Economist, with vile, bile blood, lie with snake tongues. Even on the streets of 5th avenue, we live light years away from the stock market. Conglomerate lights blink out but shine tri-letter testaments far beyond their days. The Living dead stalk the business district of Wall Street.
We are their puppets without strings; given free will and accepted into submission. A nation too concerned by the debt they control, by the goods they supply, and the climate of fear they inspire. Do as they say not as they do, they could never live under their own laws. Try an experiment. Collect the local houseless society and have them make bracelets. Pay them a slave labor and sell the product wholesale to a super store. You will be shut down in a week. Your with images splashed on the television screen and new age, empty heads in a picket line outside your office. The News at 9 will peg you for the worst offender to slavery since Jim Crow.
Now move your operation to a poor indigenous country and a magnificent conversion takes place. You will be instantly raised from the low title of scumbag to the heights of Philanthropist, where you too could be Batman. But who wants to fight crime when you could pay someone else to do it.
Which brings us to the heart of the problem. We have not let this happen but have been tools to keep up the structure. We pay our debt of procrastination with the currency of rights and we give more away every year. The time to fix this system is over. The time to finish utopia is upon us, we are the sons of an Unfinished Nation and it is up to us to guide her, stand beside her, and protect her from the evils of man.
